CAL's AI Process

CAL Academic Coaches review student work by providing edits, feedback, and overall guidance. If a Coach suspects the use of AI in student writing, the following procedures will be observed:

1. The Academic Coach will check the document for AI content using Grammarly’s AI detection tool.

2. If Grammarly detects unethical use of AI, the Academic Coach will contact the student to inform them of the finding.

3. The Academic Coach will request that the student schedule an Online or In-Person CAL appointment to speak about the assignment and determine what support the student might need to become less reliant on AI content in their writing.

4. If the student chooses not to schedule an Online or In-Person appointment with an Academic Coach, the Center will not provide continuing support for the assignment in question.

CAL's aim is to support all students with their academic work while at CTS. Our goal is to help you succeed by employing strategies that foster skillful practices and promote academic integrity. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns so that we can advise you appropriately. We look forward to seeing you!
